An Open Letter from your DJ about Pricing

I wish I could tell you that finding the perfect wedding DJ or entertainer is easy, but it’s not.  It’s kind of like finding a caterer. He may have the right credentials; but what if his specialty is French cuisine and what you really need is a down home BBQ?  Or perhaps you are looking for a wedding photographer as well as your DJ.  What if you don’t like their personalities? Imagine spending four, five, or more hours in the company of someone you don’t like.

And yes, budgets do matter. Just because you have a wedding budget does not mean that you have no money to spend on your wedding. It means that you are allocating your money based on your priorities. If your flowers are more important than your cake then you’ll spend more money on flowers. And if your entertainment is more important than chair covers with fancy bows, then you will spend your money on your DJ or entertainer.

You’re probably asking, “Well, how do I set my budget if I don’t even know how much flowers or a disc jockey actually cost?” It’s an excellent question and sometimes it is surprisingly hard to get answers. Let’s take Solid Sound Entertainment, the DJ company you are looking at right now. Our prices start at $250 for a simple, intimate wedding ceremony and mini reception. If you choose to use our full DJ and Master of Ceremonies Service complete with designer lighting and Your Love Story presented on DVD, you’re looking at closer to $2500. Travel is also a consideration for your DJ.  For example we do not have a fee for travel to Colorado and Wyoming towns such as Loveland, Fort Collins, Estes Park, Longmont, Cheyenne, Laramie, or northern Denver areas such as Thornton or Broomfield.  We have a travel fee for weddings or parties held in places such as Sterling, Colorado Springs, and areas more than 50 miles or an hour from Loveland Colorado.

I wish I could explain all the options you have in an email or over the phone but it’s hard to do, so I recommend a no-obligation, get acquainted meeting if at all possible at our office in Loveland. It’s also a great way for you to discover that you really would like spending anywhere from 90 minutes to eight hours with Scott or me on your wedding day.
