Nick and Nadia's Wedding

Our initial meeting was over and everyone was smiling; Nick, Nadia, her parents, Scott, and I.  As we all walked out the door Nick, pulled me to the side and whispered, "We'll be calling you next week.  The wedding isn't going to be exactly as Nadia's parents think."

"Okay."  Sure enough a week later they called and set up a new meeting. They quickly explained that they loved the movie The Princess Bride and wanted to utilize our DJ and sound reinforcement expertise to play sound bites and music from the movie during their wedding ceremony.  The whole thing was to be a secret.  Only the pastor, the two of them, Scott and I would know.

We attended the rehearsal to help set the pretense that all was as originally planned with the parents.  The next day was bright and sunny.  The ceremony site was nestled in a small canyon with a meandering creek behind the pastor.  Beyond the creek a wall of red stone rose up to the sky. Lush green grass was everywhere. The theme music for The Princess Bride began floating over the guests and Nadia arrived in a beautiful carriage.  As she stepped up to join her handsome groom the pastor began.

The pastor opened a over-sized book and began reading, "Princess Nadia was born in the land of Loveland." She continued reading  as several guests attempted not to chuckle out loud.  Suddenly, she slammed the book shut, looked up at the guests and announced, "Sorry, wrong book."  Laughter filled the air.

Everyone settled down and the ceremony began again.  But more surprises were in store.  The pastor paused.  A male voice began speaking.  "Maw-widge, maw-widge is what bwings us together today."  Guests familiar with the movie immediately recognized Peter Cook's voice.  The moment was perfect.  Throughout the rest of the ceremony Nick and Nadia's family and friends were treated to their favorite clips from the movie.  Clips that reflected the joy and wonder that Nick and Nadia felt as they became united in marriage; each one generating another laugh from the delighted guests.  Nick and Nadia had truly made their ceremony unique, memorable, and fun. And their Solid Sound Entertainment DJ made it happen.
