We can also do dance contests and limbos at your elementary school dance or child's birthday party.

Who are the people behind

Solid Sound Entertainment?

Scott McKinney and Diana Roberts met back in 1988. They were married five months later. Scott had his own company, FM Audio. Together they expanded the company and changed it's name to Solid Sound Entertainment.

Scott has been surrounded by music and electronic technology all his life. His mother sang on a radio show back in the early 50’s and his dad with an electrical engineer. Scott loved both and combined them into a career he loves, being a disc jockey and front-of-house sound man. He is a fountain of information and other DJs have been known to call him for help with music or equipment problems. Scott has worked with such luminaries as Archbishop Stafford, William Shatner, Tim Burton, Leonard Nimoy, and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. He also likes working with local artists including Mindy Ellis and her husband, Craig Campbell, Clint Clymer, Jerry Schaeffer and the Darn Thirsty Cowboys, Mark Sloniker, and Dick Zavodny. But what Scott enjoys most is playing music that has folks tapping their toes, clapping their hands and “getting down” on the dance floor. He started his company in 1979 when he performed at the Christmas party for the Federal Aviation Administration in Longmont and he’s been loving it ever since. Scott has extremely good hearing which allows him to surprise your guests with his "psychic" ability when he begins playing a song they were just talking about at their table.

Diana is a graduate from Colorado State University in technical journalism. While at CSU she became involved in the promotion of the local Special Olympics program and has had a hand in special events and functions ever since. She has also studied special event management at the University of Minnesota. Before becoming heavily involved with Solid Sound Entertainment Diana worked as a wedding coordinator at her church, spent a summer learning the ropes at a wedding and party rental company, and worked as the sales manager and event coordinator for a special event facility. She loves being able to share her knowledge with Solid Sound Entertainment clients to help them have the absolute best, worry free day! Scott and Diana’s clients describe them as flexible, easy to work with, and great at “going with the flow”.

Mike has been working as a disc jockey for over 30 years. He started out in radio before branching out into mobile work. Mike's biggest strength is his ability to make your guests feel at home. He has an incredible knowledge of country music but is familiar and comfortable with all types of music. For some reason we don't have a picture of Mike; but, think of a lovable Teddy Bear with a cheery smile and you are on the right track.

Rick is brand new to DJing but not to music. If you are looking for a simple party with background music, Rick is the guy for you. His strengths are his wonderful sense of humor and his passion for music from the late 70's and 80's. Nope, no picture of him either. Guess we had better call one of the photographers on our resource page and get some photos taken.

Where Do We Provide Services?

Our disc jockeys work primarily in the Loveland, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, Laramie, and Denver areas. But they will travel where you need them to be. We have performed at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, the Stanley in Estes Park, at Boettcher Mansion, and at Grant-Humphreys. We have been to Tulsa, OK. twice and Asheville, NC. once. And for the wedding or party in the right location (Hawaii, the Caribbean, Fiji, ???) we will work out a nice package for you.

I have often suggested that when thinking about your centerpieces you consider height and how it affects conversation. You know they say one picture is worth a thousand words so here is the picture. Thinking about using an Ipod?

When using an I-pod for your wedding you will miss out on all of the master of ceremonies and coordination services that a professional disc jockey can provide for you. However, we do understand that some budgets mean the family is doing potluck, flowers are out of your garden and a DJ isn't an option. For you we offer a high quality rental sound system for only $300.00. All you need to do is plug in your I-Pod or Laptop. This system also includes a microphone so you can make your own announcements. And because of the quality of the system, you know that you will get better sound than a boombox could ever hope to achieve.
